Volunteer in Nepal with Projects Abroad and take part in work that serves the needs of the local community. This is an opportunity to immerse in Nepalese culture while supporting ongoing work that helps those in need.
You can help to rebuild schools and homes which were damaged in the 2015 earthquake, support young children through education, or conduct wildlife research. There are also many options to gain experience through a medical internship in fields like dentistry and nursing.
We work in different locations in Nepal, including Kathmandu and Chitwan. Our full-time staff in Nepal will be available to support you 24/7 if you need it.
Nepal is a small country but offers so much to visitors. It has a rich history with many colorful festivals and sacred religious sites. Where we are based in Nepal
You can volunteer in different locations in Nepal, such as Kathmandu or Chitwan.
Kathmandu
Kathmandu is Nepal’s economic and cultural capital. It has elements of both modern and traditional life, making it a fascinating place to explore. You can visit ancient temples and monasteries, purchase souvenirs at the local bazaar, or go on a hike to admire the beautiful mountain scenery.
Bharatpur
The third largest city in Nepal, and capital of Chitwan District. Located around a six hour drive from the capital Kathmandu, it is the medical centre for Nepal. The city is a popular destination due to its proximity to the Chitwan National Park, the country’s first national park, which is also a World Heritage Site. Outside of your Nepal volunteering project, you can explore small local villages and go on safari to see crocodiles, rhino and Bengal tigers. We encourage you to sample some local cuisine, like “taas”, a spicy fried goat dish.
Chitwan National Park
Chitwan National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in southern Nepal. It encompasses a range of ecosystems, including grasslands, forests, and rivers. It has a subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters.
You will be based next to the Seti Gandaki River and within the official buffer zone of Chitwan National Park, home to rhinos, tigers, crocodiles, and more. Though the Indian Rhino population in Chitwan is now increasing after continued success, they are still vulnerable. Your work helps protect the species.
