We hope you are getting prepared and excited for your trip. It’s not long now!
This page provides important information that explains what to prepare before departing and what will happen when you arrive at your destination. Please make sure you have a saved copy of this page on your phone, or a printed copy to refer to.
Travel Checklist
One week before departing you should go over the following checklist to make sure you have everything you need before heading to the airport:

- Valid passport for 6 months after your return.
- Travel Insurance
- Covid Vaccine Certificate (For Medicine Volunteers only)
- A printed copy of your flight itinerary with proof of exit from the country.
- All nationals (except those holding valid USA/Canada passports) who are going to Argentina via the USA must hold a machine readable passport and MUST REGISTER for their ESTA at least 72 hours before departure.
- Proof of sufficient funds (A copy of a recent bank statement or a banking app. This is just a precaution and you can bring it on your phone)
- Emergency numbers (see below) saved on your phone and on paper
Arriving at the airport
You will be given an 'International Embarkation/Disembarkation Card' and a 'Customs Declaration Card' during your flight. Please remember, when it comes to the tick-box on the International Embarkation/Disembarkation Card, volunteering with Projects Abroad classes as 'tourism' for immigration purposes.
Once you have landed at the airport in Cordoba for most volunteers or Tehuelche / Almirante Zar for Whale & Puma Conservation volunteers, you can make your way to the Immigration Desk. You will generally be given a 90-day stay, although 30-day and 60-day permits are sometimes given. If you are staying for 3 months or more, please tell the immigration officer at the airport. Permits can be renewed.
Next, head to the baggage reclaims area where you will wait until your bags arrive. We recommend that you bring some clothes and toothbrush/paste in your hand luggage in case your luggage is delayed. This is unlikely to happen, but it is best to prepare just in case.
Once you have your bags, please make your way to the exit which is signposted in English.
Airport Transfers in Buenos Aires
If you are coming to Córdoba via Buenos Aires and need to transfer airports to catch your connecting flight (check the airport codes on your plane ticket to confirm this), we recommend that you avoid using taxis which are very expensive and overpriced.
There is a good shuttle service leaving frequently from Ezeiza Ministro Pistarini Airport to Aeroparque Jorge Newberry airport and vice versa. It is called Manuel Tienda Leon and it is safe, effective and quite inexpensive. You can pay in Dollars, Euros or even by credit/debit card. It costs around AR$155 (Argentina Pesos) for the bus option which is roughly 18 US Dollars.
Meeting the staff

Our staff will meet you at the airport arrivals hall. They will hold a sign saying Projects Abroad. Please note the sign will not have your name on it.
In the extremely rare event that the staff member coming to meet you is late and you do not see anyone holding a Projects Abroad sign at the airport or if you experience any flight delays, please call Guillermo Cogorno on +54 93516097905. Please stay at the airport in the arrivals hall until our member of staff finds you.
For any other flight travel related emergencies please contact one of the phone numbers below:

Please bear in mind that if you arrive late at night, you may stay in a hotel or hostel for the first night either because night travel is impossible, or just to avoid waking up your host family. This hotel would be arranged and paid for by Projects Abroad.
