This page provides important information that explains what to prepare before departing and what will happen when you arrive at your destination. Please make sure you have a saved copy of this page on your phone, or a printed copy to refer to.
Travel Checklist
One week before departing you should go over the following checklist to make sure you have everything you need before heading to the airport:
- Valid passport for 6 months after your return
- 2 Passport sized photos (only for visa extensions)
- 2 printed copies of your approved eVisa certificate OR $35 USD cash for visa on arrival (try to have the exact change if possible)
- e-arrival QR code (apply here)
- Local address in Cambodia written down on a piece of paper and on your phone (find this on your MYPA page)
- Travel Insurance
- Support letter found here
Arriving at the airport
When you arrive at Phnom Penh Airport, please proceed to the visa area.
Fill in a visa form and hand it to the visa counter with your passport photo and passport. You should apply for an Ordinary visa (E-class) if you are doing volunteer or intern projects. Wait 5 minutes for your visa to be processed. They will call your name, at which stage you will collect your passport and pay the visa fee.
Then collect your luggage and proceed to the exit where a member of our staff will be waiting for you.
Meeting our staff
A staff member will be wearing a Projects Abroad green t-shirt and will be holding an A4, laminated, Projects Abroad sign. They will be standing at the exit of the airport.
They will take you directly to your accommodation.
In the extremely rare event that the staff member coming to meet you is late and you do not see anyone holding a Projects Abroad sign at the airport or if you experience any flight delays, please call one of the numbers below:

There is a fountain and cafe at the exit of the airport where you can sit until you find the staff member.
