Arriving at the airport

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi, you will have to go through customs, the immigration desk and reclaim your baggage.

Once you have done all of this, please make your way to the airport exit (you can follow the exit sign which will be in English), where one of our friendly Projects Abroad staff members will be waiting to meet you.

Meeting our staff

A staff member will be at the airport exit with an A4 sized Projects Abroad sign.

If you arrive before 11am at the Airport you will be transferred to Nanyuki on the same day. If you arrive after 11am you will spend the night in Nairobi at Hotel Hennessis  (all expenses paid), and travel to Nanyuki by minibus taxi with our staff member the following day.

Nanyuki is a scenic 4 hour drive from Nairobi depending on traffic. You will get a glimpse of the culture and beauty of Kenya.

On arrival to Nanyuki, you will be taken and introduced to your host family. The following day a staff member will meet with you at your host accommodation and give you a full induction for your project.

If you are joining the Conservation project, you will be taken to the Soysambu conservancy which is around a 3 hour drive from the airport.

In the extremely rare event that the staff member coming to meet you is late and you do not see anyone holding a Projects Abroad sign at the airport or if you experience any flight delays, please call Ms Carol Mungai +254 723 287 620. It’s best to stay at the airport in the arrivals hall until our member of staff finds you.
