Overview
While we offer a flexible trip duration, here's a sample itinerary showcasing an exciting two-week adventure in Cambodia.
Week one
The first week of your journey in Cambodia allows you time to learn about the country and meet local people! You'll arrive in Phnom Penh and settle into your accommodation before embarking on activities like a Khmer language lesson, a city tour, and cultural ceremonies. You'll also find out more about Cambodia's history and the legacy of the Khmer Rouge regime.
As you enter the second half of the week, you’ll spend time learning about community initiatives. Working alongside local people, you’ll assist teachers within their classrooms, or make improvements to the facilities, depending on the needs of the school at the time.
Outside school, you’ll learn traditional skills like silk weaving and Khmer boxing, and explore the countryside. You'll also experience the vibrant culture of Phnom Penh through dance lessons, food markets, and river tours.
Having been welcomed with open arms and immersed in the lively energy of Cambodia, by the end of week one, you’ll start to feel like you’ve found a second home and a sense of belonging!
Week two
At the start of week two, you’ll visit a local wildlife centre. Learn about the amazing work being done here in the fight against animal trafficking and the impact it has on the area's biodiversity and ecological balance.
You’ll then travel to the iconic city of Siem Reap to explore impressive ancient temples, including Angkor Wat and Tah Prohm Temple. Watch in awe as the sun sets while you float down the Tonle Sap Lake and Mekong River on a boat tour. Relax and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Siem Reap as you learn about the Khmer Empire, experience a dance show, and go souvenir shopping in the iconic night markets.
As your journey comes to an end, you’ll take time to reflect on your experiences and prepare for your departure. Participate in a workshop to consolidate your learnings and create a video documentary to capture your journey. You'll also enjoy a farewell celebration with your fellow travellers to make some final memories together.
