Is a Pre-Med Program in Greece right for me?
This is your chance to gain meaningful clinical exposure on an immersive trip. Travel to the world-famous city of Athens and shadow doctors to elevate your medical school application.
This program is for anyone who wants to combine guaranteed physician shadowing hours and community service. Travel to the birthplace of the Hippocratic Oath and soak in a medical culture that dates back thousands of years.
This Medical Program is tailored for pre-med students like you. You’ll have ample opportunity to demonstrate the competency requirements set out by the AAMC. By engaging with top medical professionals in Greece, you’ll gain valuable skills that set you apart.
This program follows a set itinerary with a group of like-minded students. This offers a balance of clinical exposure and leisure time. Take this chance to network with other passionate medical students and forge lifelong bonds as you discover the wondrous sights of Athens.
“Each applicant needs to be as sure as possible that this is what they want to do with their life. That motivation can be demonstrated through academic achievement and also through exposure to clinical medicine and community service.
MCAT scores do not guarantee that an applicant will be invited to interview. Just as important are extracurricular activities and life experiences.”- Mickey Foxwell MD, University of Maryland School of Medicine

Where in Greece will I work?
Athens
As an intern, you’ll work in the thriving, historically-rich capital of Greece. While there are plenty of modern healthcare facilities in Athens, some areas may be less developed than you’re used to. This will test your skills and boost your resilience.
Situated between the mountains and the sea, Athens is a scenic destination popular with travelers. It’s also bursting with historical sights, such as the Acropolis, an ancient citadel and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In this busy city, the hospitals and clinics where you intern may be overcrowded and understaffed. These operational challenges – which may differ from what you’re used to – will help you develop skills that make you a stand-out medical candidate.
Outside of your hospital work, prepare to marvel at the history and culture found on every street in Athens.
What are the aims and impact of this Pre-Med Program in Greece?
The aims of this program for pre-med students are to:
- Facilitate first-class medical exposure, broadening your knowledge.
- Provide extra-curricular service hours, freeing your college time to focus on your GPA and MCAT grades.
- Build AAMC competencies, including cultural awareness, communication, and compassion.
- Ensure you stand out from other medical school applicants.
As a Pre-Med intern, you’ll become part of our long-term efforts to improve health outcomes around the world. Smoking and obesity are major public health concerns in Greece. Along with treating symptoms, you’ll spread awareness of preventative measures local people can take to stay healthy.
